In the event of a property loss:
- Assess
the extent of damage. If the damage has left
areas exposed to the weather, go ahead and make
temporary repairs. If you don't have the materials
to make temporary repairs, call a contractor
and ask him to come out as soon as possible.
- For
less serious property damage, you may be asked
to obtain an estimate from a contractor to determine
the cost of repairs.
- Obtain
a copy of the Police Report for filing purposes if applicable.
- Take
pictures of damage to your property.
After
gathering information about the loss, report your
claim to our office. Our Claims Manager
will determine if a property appraiser is necessary,
or if the claim will be handled by the insurance
companys claims adjuster based on a contractor's
estimate and the extent of the damage your property
has incurred.
In
the case of burglary or vandalism losses, contact
the police immediately. Once their visit is complete,
call your report into our claims department. We
will report your claim to the insurance company
to begin the investigation and settlement process.
